What Is G30 Steel Used For?

What is G30 steel used for?

1. Lining
Hastelloy C-276 and C-22 are commonly used as linings for chemical processing equipment such as reactors, tanks and heat exchangers. These liners are particularly valuable in environments containing highly corrosive substances such as acids, chlorides or sulfur compounds. By lining the inner surface, Hastelloy offers excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation, protecting equipment from damage.

This approach is cost-effective because it leverages the corrosion-resistant properties of high-performance Hastelloy without having to build the entire device out of it. In addition, Hastelloy linings can be used to retrofit existing equipment, significantly improving its corrosion resistance and extending its service life, making it a practical solution for the chemical and petrochemical industries.

2. Pressure vessel

In chemical processing, pressure vessels play a key role in reaction processes, separation processes and storage. They are designed to operate safely at specific pressures and temperatures, depending on the nature of the substances they contain. The design and material selection of these vessels are critical to ensuring safety, efficiency and longevity, especially when handling corrosive or volatile substances. Hastelloy is extremely corrosion-resistant and can be used to create pressure vessels for these corrosive fluids and can last for decades with proper maintenance. The durability and long service life of Hastelloy pressure vessels make them cost-effective throughout their service life. Hastelloy C-276 and Hastelloy B-3 are commonly used in pressure vessels.

3. Turbine combustion chamber
The turbine combustor or combustor is the component in a gas turbine engine where combustion occurs. These combustion chambers are subject to extreme temperatures and the effects of highly corrosive fuels. Hastelloy X is commonly used in the turbine combustors of gas turbine engines because it is very strong at high temperatures and has excellent corrosion resistance. It also has excellent resistance to oxidation in extreme temperatures. This makes it ideal for handling the high temperatures and corrosive conditions typical of these engine components. These features help make it durable, especially when it is used in well-designed components. When engineers use Hastelloy correctly in their designs, it helps ensure that these parts of the engine can withstand the high temperatures and corrosive fuels they are exposed to and last a long time.

4. Pipes or valves
Pipes and valves are part of the equipment used in every petrochemical and chemical processing operation. Many of the chemicals transported through these pipelines are highly corrosive. Hastelloy pipe has high corrosion resistance and very good durability, making it ideal for safely transporting and controlling the flow of these corrosive chemicals. For example, Hastelloy C-276 is commonly used in these applications.

Hastelloy C-276 is particularly suitable for handling a variety of corrosive chemicals due to its excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. The alloy's unique composition, including nickel, molybdenum and chromium, provides excellent performance in environments where other materials may fail, such as in the presence of chlorides, sulfur compounds and acidic media.
